Former BC Hydro building becoming museum

A heritage building in downtown Fernie will become the city’s museum and visitors centre.

The beautiful two-story structure was a BC Hydro facility until it was sold to the City of Fernie in September 2008.

In a ceremony that took place on February 2, 2009, Cindy Corrigan, mayor of Fernie, officially handed the keys to Laura Nelson, from the Fernie and District Historical Society.

BC Hydro, represented by Diane Tammen, Community Relations Manager for the East Kootenay region, was recognized for making the building available to the community and for its contribution to future generations.
