Once you're confident that your organization or initiative is a good match for our programs, you can apply for a sponsorship or donation through our online application system, grantstream.

Just follow the steps below to make sure everything goes smoothly. You may want toprint this page to help guide you through the process.

  1. Before you spend time filling out applications, check your eligibility by completing a simple questionnaire.
  2. Read the application instructions to ensure you have all of the required information on hand.
  3. If you have already completed the questionnaire to determine your eligibility, complete the online application. You'll need about 30 to 60 minutes to complete this.
  4. Submit the application and wait for your confirmation message to appear.
  5. Print a copy of the completed application for your records.

Once you've completed these steps, we'll review your application and get back to you within 30 days and let you know if BC Hydro can provide the support that you requested. Sometimes, this process may take a little longer, depending on the volume of requests we have received. Thanks for your patience.

Funding criteria

Within the funding areas, preference is given to initiatives that:

  • align with BC Hydro's purpose and long term business goals
  • engage and support Aboriginal Peoples of B.C.
  • involve communities where BC Hydro has facilities, operations and impacts
  • support Power Smart programs or initiatives
  • provide opportunities to customize promotional activities and allow for on-site customer education and interaction

Exclusions from sponsorships and donations

The following are not eligible for sponsorship or donation support:

  • individuals
  • religious affiliated groups
  • political parties or partisan activities
  • travel for individuals or groups
  • underwriting films, television or video production
  • fraternal organizations, commercial solicitor, third-party or professional fundraisers
  • talent or beauty contests
  • cost of electricity services or equipment (prohibited by the B.C. Utilities Commission)
  • health and social service organizations (please see BC Hydro's HYDRECS program)
  • named academic chairships or fellowships
  • reducing debts or past operating ventures
  • post-secondary research grants
  • initiatives outside of British Columbia
  • for-profit organizations
  • advertising and promotions
  • applications for tickets (contests, raffles, or other activity with prize)
  • Used computers (Please see Computers for Schools)
