Supporting Stewardship

BC Hydro is pleased to support the Community Salmon program (CSP) that is an important initiative offered by the Pacific Salmon Foundation. This program supports streamkeeping volunteers around the province, who address pacific salmon conservation, enhancement, habitat restoration, and community education.

HYDRECS Fund – This employee-driven trust facilitates the charitable contributions of BC Hydro employees and retirees.

Power Pioneers – A volunteer-based organization of 5,100 retired BC Hydro employees who give back to their communities.

Imagine Canada
The Caring Company designation from Imagine Canada is awarded to just 120 other Canadian companies each year. It designates that BC Hydro meets the 20-year old organization's benchmark for community investment: committing a minimum of one per cent of pre-tax domestic profit to charities and non-profit organizations.

BC Hydro has donated thousands of suitable surplus computers to schools over the past 10 years. All computer donation requests to BC Hydro are referred to this non-profit organization because Computers for Schools safely refurbishes donated computers.
