Why should I create a profile?
A profile is an online resume that you use to apply for BC Hydro opportunities, now and in the future. It saves you time – once created, all you have to do is maintain and update your profile with work experience, education and contact information.
How do I set up my username/password?
Your username and password are set when you register. If you forget your password when you access the log in page, you can select password forgotten, and enter either your user name or email address to request a new password. A password needs to have a minimum of 8 characters.
How do I apply for a position?
Candidates can apply by selecting the desired posting, and submitting it through the apply button. Note that the application wizard will automatically populate any fields you have already completed in your profile.
How do I find out about the status of my application?
Log into the Career Centre to view applications status. Use the Find and Apply for Jobs tab and select Applications
Can I apply for a position late or past the application deadline date?
Once a posting closes, you will not be able to view it online.
Who do I contact if I'm having technical difficulties using the site?
If your question is not answered on this page, contact us at recruitmenthelp@bchydro.com
What if I forget/lose my password?
A new password can be sent to the email address you provided in your profile. You can request a new password by clicking on the “Password Forgotten” link on the login page.
I've locked myself out. What can I do?
Your account will lock after several failed login attempts. You can unlock your username by resetting your password: start by clicking the "Password Forgotten" link on the login menu.
What happens if I am called away from my computer before finishing my profile/application?
For security reasons, your session will time out after 30 minutes of idle time. Please save your changes frequently.
How do I log out?
If you're using this service on a shared computer in a public area (i.e. public kiosk or library), before leaving the computer, it is important that you fully log out of the application. Select the Log Out button in the upper right corner of your page, and close your browser. This will ensure that no one else can access any personal information you may have entered.
What are the system requirements for applying online?
Are there any special requirements for Macintosh computers?
We recommend using Internet Explorer or Firefox (version 3 or 2) with the online application system, otherwise rendering or navigational issues will likely be experienced. You will also need to ensure JavaScript is enabled and popup blockers are turned off.
Do I have to answer all online questions, even if the answers are in my resume?
Yes, questions that include a * are mandatory.
Is a cover letter required for all applications?
A cover letter is optional. However, it helps us to get to know you better.
If I apply for one position, will I be considered for other positions? Or do I need to apply for each job separately?
We encourage you to apply separately to all of the positions that interest you. However, our recruiters do conduct regular searches of our database as new opportunities arise and once you have released your profile. You may be considered for positions to which you have not formally applied.
Can I submit my resume without applying for a specific job?
Yes. While it's beneficial to apply for a specific posting, it's not necessary. By unlocking your profile, BC Hydro's recruitment partners will view your resume when they conduct candidate searches and may invite you to apply for posting.
How will I know you received my resume/application?
Shortly after you apply online, you will be sent a system-generated message.
Can I contact the hiring manager or recruiter directly?
We prefer that all candidates use our online application tool so applications are available in our database. Once your application is received, our recruiters will review your application and be in touch with you if they have any questions about your background or experiences. The recruiters know our current and upcoming vacancies and search our database regularly. If they find a match between an opportunity and your skill set, they will be in touch with you.
How long will my resume/application be kept in your database?
Your application will be kept for one year from the date it is last reviewed.
All information collected from you on this website is collected for the purpose of considering your application for employment with BC Hydro, to serve the purposes of the Hydro and Power Authority Act and in accordance with the provisions of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.
Is my information safe? Who can access it?
Profile/application: If you have applied for a specific posting and have released your profile, the hiring manager who is responsible for that specific posting will have access to your data. They may share that data with other hiring managers (i.e. hiring panel) in order to make an informed hiring decision. BC Hydro recruiters can also see and access your data.
Will my privacy be protected when I submit my application?
BC Hydro is committed to protecting personal information that is provided to us. When you submit your application, your personal information will be used for the specific purpose of recruitment and hiring.
