Local, organic and fair trade food items

Many food suppliers now offer certified organic and Fair Trade beverage options for offices large and small. Try to find a local supplier where possible or check out some B.C. companies that are leaders in the coffee and tea market for organic and Fair Trade.

 


Salt Spring Coffee Company

Salt Spring Coffee Company is one of Canada’s largest micro-roasters of certified organic, fair-trade, shade-grown and carbon-neutral coffees.

Kicking Horse Coffee

Eliminate disposable dishes and bottled water

You can buy filters to attach to your sink taps for great tasting drinking water or you can rent them from a company who will monitor and maintain them. Many companies sell biodegradable or compostable eating utensils and takeout containers. Look for potato, bamboo, corn, soybean or sugar cane products that will break down in your compost.

B.C.-based Biogreen sells cutlery, utensils and take-out containers made from biodegradable materials, such as bamboo, sugar cane and cornstarch. 

 


Aspenware bamboo cutlery

Based in Lumby, B.C., Aspenware produces environmentally friendly single-use cutlery made from wood. Their flatware is a biodegradable solution to the billions of plastic knives, forks and spoons that end up in the landfill every year and it looks great and is designed to perform.
