BC Hydro Wins Environmental Stewardship Award
For the past six years the City of Campbell River has honoured local environmental stewards with awards recognizing their service to community stewardship and to the environment. BC Hydro was proud to win the 2007 City of Campbell River Stewardship Award under the business/large industrial category.
BC Hydro was cited for its enhancement funding under the BC Hydro Bridge Costal Fish and Wildlife Restoration Program (BCRP), the Conservation Research Initiative study in Campbell River to reduce residential electricity consumption, and the Water Smart meets Power Smart sponsorship to promote less water consumption and smart energy use.
"This award reflects the excellent work of BCRP, the community-minded focus of staff at John Hart Generation Station, the progressive Conservation Research Initiative program and the ongoing stakeholder engagement work of Community Relations’ Stephen Watson, who has been active part in all of this work and more in Campbell River," said Ted Olynyk, Manager of Community Relations, Vancouver Island.
