Strategic Plans
Strategic Plans provide a technical framework for undertaking activities to reduce the adverse impacts on fish and wildlife or to recover some of the losses in fish and wildlife diversity and production created by hydroelectric development.
Plans outline the overall direction and approach to restoration within the watersheds, with a focus on addressing historical losses of fish and wildlife habitat. It describes the type and scale of impacts from hydroelectric development and proposes strategies to achieve improvement in diversity and production of fish and wildlife within the constraints imposed by biophysical conditions and hydroelectric operations.
Under a current updating and revitalization imitative, the Program’s plans are being revisiting to establish species and habitat priorities on a basin-by-basin basis. This updating takes the form of two documents, Basin Plans and Action Plans.
Basin Plans update broader partnership policy and vision, summarize footprint impacts and restoration objectives, and list high, medium, and low species and habitat priorities. These aspects are intended to describe a desired future state of each basin and help the Program set clear fish and wildlife restoration goals.
Action Plans are focussed on high priority species, habitats and related issues, and provide specific restoration targets. Action Plans also indicate where the Program requires investment to move the status of a species or habitat closer to its respective target.
Plans should be considered "living documents" and will be revised or supplemented during the implementation of the Program.
