Program Governance

This section summarizes the governance model of the BC Hydro Bridge Coastal Fish and Wildlife Restoration Program (BCRP). It summarizes guidance and reference documents for the BCRP Board and others involved with program implementation.

The primary purpose of the BCRP is to address impacts of development of BC Hydro's plants in the Bridge River Coastal Generation Area. BC Hydro has committed approximately $1.7 million dollars in annual funding to the BCRP, equivalent to the interest on a Notional Fund established for the program. Ninety percent of the budget is committed for project awards with ten percent allocated to administration. The BCRP holds an annual funding competition to select projects for funding.

The BCRP operates on a shared governance model, as outlined in this Manual. Three groups are involved in program governance - First Nations, the public and Government (BC Hydro, DFO, Ministry of Water, Land, and Air Protection). The program structure establishes clearly defined roles, responsibilities, and opportunities for participation. The structure is monitored and fine-tuned as BCRP is implemented.
