There are three new, large full-colour signs in the Pass Creek Regional Park in Castlegar, which provide visitors with information on habitat and wildlife, forest biodiversity, and the fish of Pass Creek. Each sign provides general information about the sign's main theme, and specific information about species highlighted in the full-colour photographs.

The signs were funded by BC Hydro as part of our three-year funding commitment to the Castlegar and District Wildlife Association in 2006.

"BC Hydro is committed to be a leader in environmental stewardship and to support and strengthen the communities in which we operate," said Doug Johnson, Manager of Columbia Environmental and Social Issues at BC Hydro. "This educational nature trail will be enjoyed by our community and visitors to the Pass Creek Regional Park for generations."

Liz Thorburn, president of the Castlegar and District Wildlife Association, added, "Thanks to BC Hydro we will be adding one more large interpretive sign this year providing information about local sheep, elk, deer and caribou, as well as some smaller signs helping people identify trees and other notable plants in the park."

"Pass Creek Park may be small but it's a real jewel and we hope these signs help people appreciate some of the natural wonders within the park and the Castlegar area," said Lawrence Redfern, treasurer of the Castlegar and District Wildlife Association.

The Pass Creek Nature Trail was originally constructed by the Castlegar Lions Club, and Castlegar Friends of Parks and Trails has recently worked with the Wildlife Association to upgrade the trail.
