BC Hydro has become a leading sustainable energy company by producing and delivering electricity in environmentally and socially responsible ways.

Update: See below for important information about the BC Transmission Corporation's Community Investment Program following BCTC integration with BC Hydro.

Three bottom lines

BC Hydro is accountable to British Columbians to take care of the environment, meet community needs and deliver excellent financial results. As such, we are committed to a path of sustainability whereby we balance, track and measure our performance along environmental, social and economic bottom lines.

We believe better business decisions result by looking at these three bottom lines together and understanding that what happens in one area has effects on the others.

Update to BCTC's Community Investment Program

The new Clean Energy Act consolidates BC Hydro and BC Transmission Corporation, as of July 5, 2010, to provide a single entity that will plan and deliver the clean energy required to meet British Columbia’s growing demand for electricity while fostering job creation throughout the province and helping reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

The former BCTC and BC Hydro are currently working to bring their Community Investment programs together under one single BC Hydro program, which will offer funding and resources to communities, charities and organizations throughout the province.

For current and potential BCTC funding recipients, please note that:

  • As of June 1, 2010, BCTC is no longer accepting funding applications. Please submit your request for funding through the BC Hydro online application process.
  • If you have an application pending with BCTC, your funding request will be considered after July 1, 2010 as part of the BC Hydro Community Investment Program.

BC Hydro employee fundraising

Each year, the BC Hydro Employees' Community Services (HYDRECS) Committee conducts a provincial fundraising campaign that encourages employees and retirees to donate towards their favourite registered charity or the pre-selected Special Project.

During the fundraising campaign, 100% of each contribution received by HYDRECS is given to the charities.
