LA6(1) Health & Safety at Work
Worker safety is prescribed under the provincial Workers' Compensation Act and pursuant regulations. BC Hydro uses a Safety Management System to help ensure safety and health in the workplace. BC Hydro management monitors safe operation, practice and safety performance responding to any incident or issue that may arise, while taking all appropriate corrective action necessary. The B.C. Employment Standards Act, B.C. Labour Code and the negotiated collective agreements (IBEW & COPE) also set expectations for employee health and safety at work, and these are consistently followed.
