Aboriginal Hires	28	20

One of the programs that BC Hydro offers to support the economic and social development of Aboriginal communities is the creation of a representative workforce in BC Hydro that reflects the Aboriginal demographics across British Columbia. Based on current demographics, this will involve recruiting and hiring over 200 new Aboriginal candidates in all occupations across BC Hydro and retaining approximately 160 employees.

There were 28 Aboriginal hires in fiscal 2008; 10 of which were full-time regular or full-time temporary hires and 18 were casual hires over the course of the year.

This is a new metric for BC Hydro, and the first year that it has been reported.
