Reasons for gender compensation discrepancy within affiliations and BC Hydro include:
IBEW: Significantly smaller proportion of females to males (40 versus 1,750) with females tending to occupy roles attracting lower wage rates (e.g. Storekeepers) and males occupying the higher paid skilled trades roles (e.g. Power Line Technicians, Electricians).
COPE: Higher proportion of males in higher level roles with 70 per cent of males and 30 per cent females in the top job levels 9-13 (e.g. Finance Professionals).
M&P: Higher proportion of males in higher level roles (job group 44 and higher) notably in Engineering and Operations Management.
