EN16 Greenhouse Gas Intensities
Category | GHG Intensity by Calendar Year (t CO2e/GWh) |
|---|
2005 | 2006 | 2007 | 2008 |
|---|
| Total BC Hydro electricity generation | 6 | 14 | 6 | 8 |
| BC Hydro fossil fuel electricity generation | 590 | 552 | 588 | 570 |
| Total electricity generation | 24 | 27 | 23 | 28 |
Notes:
- GHG intensities are reported in carbon dioxide equivalent metric tonnes per gigawatt hour (t CO2e/GWh).
- The total BC Hydro electricity generation metric corresponds to the GHG emissions from electricity generated at facilities owned and operated by BC Hydro divided by the net electricity generated by those facilities.
- The BC Hydro fossil fuel electricity generation metric corresponds to the GHG emissions from electricity generated at fossil fuel-fired facilities owned and operated by BC Hydro divided by the net electricity generated by those facilities.
- The total electricity generation metric refers to the sum of GHG emissions from electricity generated at facilities owned and operated by BC Hydro and GHG emissions from electricity purchased from Independent Power Producers, divided by the net electricity generated by those facilities. GHG emissions from electricity imports for domestic use are not included.
- Where historical GHG intensities do not match previously reported values, intensities have been recalculated due to changes in inventory scope, improvements in data collection and/or updates to emission factors. This year, recalculations reflect:
- updated CO2 emission factors for stationary natural gas and diesel combustion in accordance with the National Inventory Report: 1990-2007, Greenhouse Gas Sources and Sinks in Canada (Environment Canada, 2009); and
- improved reporting of historical net generation for some generating facilities.
