"Likely costs" shown are estimated total costs, in thousands of dollars, for all listed sites through all phases of contaminated site management, from assessment to final remediation and closure. The data is extracted from the BC Hydro Known Environmental Exposures Reporting (KEER) system that was introduced in 1996. It is a tool used by Corporate Finance to assign and track financial liability over $100,000 associated with known contaminated sites according to standard accounting principles. Once listed, a site generally remains in KEER until remediated. British Columbia Transmission Corporation reports separately on the sites that it manages.
