Each certificate sold represents the environmental and social benefits, including emission reductions, from one megawatt-hour of green power generation over and above BC Hydro's corporate energy portfolio commitments. Currently, Green Power Certificates (GPCs) are only offered to large institutional and commercial customers. This year, sales of GPC's tripled, due in part to pricing discounts for large volume purchases, and the introduction of multi-year purchase options.
