This indicator provides a measure of the extent to which BC Hydro and other utilities reduce consumption and purchases of new insulating oil by reusing existing inventories of insulating oil that may have otherwise been disposed of as waste or recycled rather than reused. Reuse rates are lower than comparable years as BC Hydro intentionally reduced stored inventory. This volume of oil was unsuitable for reuse in transformers and was recycled rather than reused. Thus, it did not contribute to the volume reused.
