Operations and Administrative expenses in 2004/2005 were higher than the previous year primarily due to the increase in provision for contaminated sites ($24 million), legal provisions for California and the Peace Region ($23 million) and establishment of the British Columbia Transmission Corporation ($8 million). The increase in costs was partly offset by reduced IT costs ($9 million) due to projects completed in the prior year, and the provision for the Georgia Strait Crossing project ($22 million) that was recorded in 2003/2004.
Maintenance expenditures were lower than the previous year primarily due to maintenance performed as a result of forest fire damage and system restoration due to storms in 2003/2004.
