Deputy CEO and Executive Vice President

Bev Van RuyvenBev joined BC Hydro in 1997 as Manager, Key Accounts. In 2001, Bev was appointed Vice-President, Power Smart and, in November 2002, she was appointed Senior Vice-President of Distribution. In this capacity, Bev was responsible for customer service, Power Smart, operation and maintenance of the distribution system and, planning, acquisition and risk management of a diverse portfolio of energy resources.

Bev was appointed Senior Vice-President, Customer Care and Conservation in May 2006, and Executive Vice-President in May 2007. She focussed on managing long-term energy planning and acquisition requirements, Customer Care, along with the development of a new Power Smart Plan.

On January 1, 2010, Bev took on the position of Acting President and Chief Executive Officer.

Bev is currently the Deputy CEO & Executive Vice President where she is responsible for Aboriginal Relations, Customer Care & Conservation, Integrated Resource Planning, Economic and Business Development, the Smart Metering & Infrastructure project, Human Resources and Safety, Health and Environment.

Bev is a graduate of the University of Victoria with a Bachelor of Arts degree.

After a distinguished 14-year career with BC Hydro, Bev has announced that she will retire in fall 2011. She is transitioning her responsibilities to other members of the Executive Team.
